I'm Hui En, the girl behind secretwealthgirl😙. I’m a 19-year-old college student, born and raised in Singapore—one of the most expensive countries in the world. And like most people, I followed the traditional path society laid out for me: go to school, get good grades, and secure a well-paying 9-5 job. Sounds logical, right? But here’s the truth no one tells you:

School or a well-paying 9-5 job doesn’t teach you how to build wealth. It teaches you how to work for someone else.

For years, I sat in classrooms learning things that had zero impact on my ability to achieve financial freedom. Meanwhile, I watched others online—digital marketers, faceless content creators—earning more in a few hours than most people make in a month.

And yet, I was stuck in a system that only prepared me to work for someone else’s dreams instead of my own.

I still remember those school holidays where, instead of resting, I was out working—

Juggling shifts as a cashier and going door to door,

just trying to help my family stay afloat.

I’d be sweating through my clothes,

legs aching from standing all day,

plastering on this bright, fake smile to serve strangers

while silently wondering if this was all my life would ever be.

It was exhausting. It was humiliating.

And deep down, it felt so unfair—

like I was doing everything “right” but still scraping by.

So yes, I know what it's like to work your ass off but still feel like you're drowning😭

I used to believe the lie that if I just worked harder—if I got the internship, took extra shifts, followed the rules, said yes to everything—I’d finally feel financially secure. I thought I'd eventually get there.

But "there"?

It never came.

Instead, I found myself working a full-time internship that burns me out, making money that barely covered anything, and wondering:

Is this seriously what the rest of my life is supposed to look like?

Because even though I was checking all the boxes—

✔️Working the 9-5

✔️Saying yes to everything my boss asked

✔️Dragging myself out of bed every morning just to sit under fluorescent lights and exist for 8 hours

… I was still broke. Still stuck. Still exhausted.

And I know I’m not the only one.

I was tired. Tired of asking my parents for money every month, tired of feeling like a burden, and tired of depending on others just to get by. I wanted more—not just for myself, but for my family. I wanted to travel whenever I wanted, buy my dream car, live in my dream apartment, and experience true financial independence.

When my first 9-5 internship came (March–August 2025)...Let me tell you—it was the wake-up call I needed.

I was earning so little compared to digital marketers out there. I spend 8-9 hours in an office, only to come home exhausted with barely two hours of free time before doing it all over again the next day. Meanwhile, people online were making money in their sleep. I knew right then and there—this was NOT the life I wanted.

That’s when I made a promise to myself: I refuse to spend my life trading time for money.

But here’s the thing—I didn’t get here overnight. I actually tried digital marketing before.

Back in December 2023, I attempted affiliate marketing on my own. But I made one critical mistake—I refused to invest in the right guidance. I thought I could Frankenstein together free advice from YouTube and somehow make it work.

Spoiler alert: it didn’t work.

I wasted months spinning in circles, pretending I was making progress, when really… I was avoiding the very thing that would’ve helped me:

• Investing in a system.

• Learning from someone who’d already done it.

• Asking for real help.

Without a clear strategy, I had no results. I got frustrated and gave up, telling myself maybe this wasn’t for me. Instead, I went back to what felt “safe”—focusing on school, getting good grades, and hoping to get that "big girl job".

But deep down, I knew I wanted more.

I saw what digital marketers were doing—working 1-2 hours a day, making more in a week than I made in a month, building something that let them breathe again.

And I finally asked myself:

Am I going to keep settling for a life that drains me—or finally build the one I actually want?

This time? I said yes.

To the mentorship. To the course. To myself.

I didn’t wait until I felt “ready.”

I just got sick of watching my potential rot while I lived paycheck to paycheck.

Fast forward to March 2025, I came across Digital Wealth Academy (aka DWA) and this time, I saw things differently. I stopped seeing investment as a “risk” and started seeing it as the only way forward. Because let’s be real—who was I to say making money online was a scam, when I had never actually done it the right way?

So, I took the leap. I invested more than I ever had before because I knew staying where I was—working a 9-5, struggling, and watching time slip away—was the real risk.
